Will It Fit Refrigerator Experience
Brief
One of the biggest challenges customers face when it comes to selecting a refrigerator is not only understanding the features but understanding what size refrigerator is right for them. My team researched, strategized, designed, validated, and released an experience that helps customers take the guesswork out of selecting a fridge for their space, while also walking them through the how-to measure in a conversational and attainable format.
As the Lead Product Designer, my role in this project was to help with prioritization, facilitating cross-functional stakeholder conversations and maintaining those relationships, ensuring alignment between technology and business stakeholders, guiding researchers, content strategists, and designers through the end to end process, as well as, mitigate risks throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Process
01. Discovery + research
–
To help us understand the problem, my team worked with merchants as the subject matter experts in understanding how customers typically measure refrigerators. In addition, we worked closely with engineering to be able to understand how customers could interact with a component to ensure our systems would deliver a relevant result.
02. strategy
–
Once understanding how the systems would respond and interviewing merchants, we worked to build a strategy around the interaction and how customers can input their dimensions. We also began to define a content strategy regarding the informational needs of the customer.
03. design
–
Once defining a strategic approach and building the content strategy, my team began to design the component. My team worked with stakeholders to refine the design vision until we had full cross-functional alignment.
04. validate
–
Once we had alignment regarding the vision and the content, we user tested the designs through moderated testing. This allowed us to ensure it met the needs of the customer as well as ensure they understood the functionality of the component.
